Online Mentoring

Online mentoring is a must for newbies otherwise way too much time is lost, not to mention money lost on scams because you don’t know any better. How do you know if they’re legit? This is hard to determine at first notice, so that’s why you take your time.

I know, you’re desperate for money so you jump on it thinking this is it! However, this is the worst thing you can do. No, what you do is investigate, also called research, which takes time and effort, but at least you don’t lose your hard earned money.

Where do go to investigate? The first place I go is to the Warrior forum or another work at home forum that I trust and ask about the so called deal by name.

If no one knows anything about it good or bad it’s out. If they say bad stuff it’s out. However, if there are trusted members who give it a thumbs up then I may go for it.

This is why it’s important for you to have at least two work at home forums where you’re an active member. Then you know who the members are that are capable of giving the wisdom you seek. These people have invaluable information and share it willingly.

They are in a sense online mentors, because they have been there and done that and want to give back to the community. They usually love helping newbies as long as they see that the newbie is also working hard and doing their best.

Online mentoring doesn’t have to be one on one and cost a fortune. On the other hand, if you have the money then there are trusted gurus that you can pay for one on one online mentoring. Or you can join their membership site and be mentored as a group.

My advice is join the Warrior forum it’s a great place to find an online mentor. It’s where I found mine. If you read the threads you will find out if the other marketers have respect for your potential mentor if they do then go for it, if not move on.

The mentor doesn’t need to be a big name guru like Frank Kern either, so don’t get stuck there. My mentor ended up being Amy Bass of the Niche Blogger she’s a housewife and mother of four who makes over $5,000 a month just by blogging!

The bottom line is that a good online mentor is invaluable, so you need one.

Targeted Internet Marketing

Targeted internet marketing is a way to place total focus on your make money online goal. To be clear making money online is very hard work. If anyone tells you it isn’t they’re lying or clueless, either way run and don’t look back.

To do targeted internet marketing you first need to match up what you’re selling with an audience who really wants your product or needs it.

As I have mentioned over and over again on this blog you need to know SEO. If you to target you have to target with keywords that they will use, so you need to know how to find what those words are. Get basics down and keep studying is my advice.

Analyze your competition. If you don’t do this you’re dead in the water. You need to check them out BEFORE you optimize and design your site. This way you know how hard you need to work to outrank them. Back to SEO, you need it to move forward.

Use article marketing to do targeted internet marketing. This is a great way to get started and how many begin. It’s takes time, but it is free, so why not go for it.

If you need help then check out Travis Sago aka King of Bum Marketers and get his free report and he will give you great instruction. He’s at bummarketingmethod.com

Do link exchanges with sites that are relevant and hopefully rank higher than yours. Use keyword relevant links this is one reason why keywords should be in your domain name.

Join relevant forums and be active in the community. Be the go to guy/gal with solutions to their problem. Leave your link after each post, but don’t spam them.

Naturally, for targeted internet marketing to pay off you need an opt-in form to build your list. Keep it short and to the point with a free offer that is useful.

Targeted internet marketing requires knowledge as you can see. If you don’t know what to do and are confused seek a mentor. I am a member of Niche Blogger membership site, so that I can get the help I need with online money making decisions.

Without a mentor and or help you lose time and money in the long run.

By the way, I closed off comments due to spammers and scammers who take advantage of newbies who are looking for ways to make money online.

Articles for Income

Articles for income are articles that you write for sites such as eHow, Infobarrel, Xomba, Hubpages and others. These sites are considered to be residual income that continues to build over time. I will stick mostly to the ones I have personal experience with or have heard from a good reliable source the information.

I used to write tons of articles for Ezine Articles you cannot write articles for income there. You use EZA to promote a product or site, which is what I did for several months. This is because they have a high page rank and are the king of article directories.

Anyway, back to articles for income. Ehow was and still can be a good place to make money if you know SEO and crank out at least an article or two a day. However, they do not care about their writers and delete articles right and left. Also, many times they do not let you know, so it is wise to back up every article you write.

At eHow you are paid by paypal once a month and they do not tell how the pay in based. So, this means you write by faith in hopes to make something off of your articles.

Infobarrel is a newer site where you can use articles for income and like eHow you get income by people clicking on your ads. The difference is that you get paid by Google using your own adsense publisher ID. Google does not payout until you reach $100, so it will be a while before you get your hands on money.

Xomba is similar to Infobarrel in that you get paid by Google. Once again this is from ad clicks. Therefore, SEO is very important or you will not have relevant ads.

In addition, at Infobarrel and Xomba you can earn a referral fee and if you’re good at promoting or create a blog to get referrals then you can make extra money this way.

I have not written articles for income on Hubpages, but I do know that you make money by Adsense, Kontera, Ebay and other affiliate programs. You are paid separately by each affiliate program you sign up for. However, you need to be careful and not over promote.

All of these sites do pay, but it’s up to you to write well written content and plenty of it. I will say it again learn SEO!! Or you will not make the money you’re shooting for.

Some other sites where you can write articles for income are Associated Content, Suite 101, Bukisa, Constant Content, Helium, Triond and Textbroker. There are more, but these are the most popular. It is wise to read reviews and be well informed.

You will need to write hundreds of articles for income to make good money online. Do not put all of your eggs in one basket, but instead diversify. Write for at least 3 sites.

Also, consider niche blogging it’s a great way to make residual income and you are in control of the site/blog. For more info on this check out the Niche Blogger.

Internet Marketing Articles

Internet marketing articles can be very profitable if you’re a good presell writer. If you don’t know how to write with good preselling techniques then you may not do so well. You also need to have a strong call to action, so that readers will click on your link in the resource box. This takes time and plenty of practice if you want to be successful.

Furthermore, you need to have a product that is in demand and it helps for you to know that the product is a good product and that you back it with a guarantee.

There are several techniques internet marketers use that get results. I don’t agree with all of them, but that doesn’t mean they don’t work. First of all, they appeal to emotions and hope to make them, the reader, need what they have to offer.

Then there’s the you can’t miss this deal we’ve cut prices down as low as they can go. Third there’s the scarcity tactic we only have so many of these left. Of course, we can’t forget the old limited time offer trick, it’s only available till blah blah.

These are the top four, so if you presell and make money with internet marketing articles most likely it will be with some sort of variation of these techniques.

Naturally, you will need to know basic SEO, this is a given, so keywords are of major importance if you want to get the article on the first page of Google, Yahoo or MSN, because if you don’t this means no traffic, which equals no sales.

As you can see there’s more to internet marketing articles than one would think and this is only basics. While it’s true that article marketing is the way most IMers start it doesn’t mean that it’s easy, so don’t get discouraged when you don’t make sales right away.

If you’re a great writer and have sales experience it may happen for you quicker. Otherwise, prepare for a long hard learning curve or opt for a mentor.

I always suggest the Niche Blogger for mentoring because it’s affordable and helps cut the learning curve down, so that you can make money easier and faster.

Make Blogs- Web Hosting and Domain

The web hosting and domain sort of go hand in hand, they’re best friends in the make money online business. They both have control over your visibility online, but one should never use the same company for both and you’re about to find out why.

The host’s duty is to make sure your site is up, running and responsive and to give you support when something goes wrong.

The domain registrar duties are to keep your domain safe, alert you if there’s a problem, and advise you of any wrong doing concerning your domain names. There are horror stories of the host shutting down sites and putting domain names on hold. Which means you can lose both in a matter of minutes. This is why you don’t want to have web hosting and domain with the same company.

When you keep the web hosting and domain separate you can set up your site elsewhere, that is assuming you keep back ups. Then if the site goes down you get another host, change the domain name server (DNS) and your site is back up in a matter of hours. If there’s a freeze on your domain you can’t do it.

If the domain is frozen by the registrar it can be a serious problem. If possible you should try to have multiple top level domains aka TLD’s, so that you can switch to the other version while you work out the problems. It’s good practice to own the .com, .org, .net so that you are prepared for the worst.

You may want to be extra careful and use separate registrar’s for your TLD’s. You can have your .com’s at your favorite company, the .orgs in a second one and .nets at a third. Thus far I keep mine in one place for the sake of simplicity. However, I may change my mind and switch them later.

As you can see it’s in your best interest to have the web hosting and domain with separate companies, especially if this becomes your full time job. Once you start making money online on a consistent basis you may feel like it’s time to put your total focus on internet marketing and quit the job you have now.

Once you have web hosting and domain taken care of you can focus on a plan to make money and the Niche Blogger has a step by step plan, you can try it free here:

I do have separate web hosting and domain. I use One and One for my domains and Hostgator for my web host. Both of them have given great service from the beginning and their prices are competitive as well.

Make Blogs- Blog Ideas

If you’re going to have a blog you also need blog ideas. After all, what are you going to write about? It could be inspirational, informative, funny, educational, newsworthy, gossip or any number of things, but in all of these it needs to be interesting.

If your blog ideas aren’t interesting then nobody will want to come back. So what are some things you can write about that will hold a readers interest?

Here’s a few ideas to get blog ideas. First of all you can check out these sites that have hot topics: ebay pulse, google trends, twitter, CNN, Amazon, Yahoo Buzz, Digg and all the other social sites. These are good places to start.

Then you make a list of your blog ideas so that you won’t have to do it again. After that you check to see if there are any of these that you could do a series on.

Place a check mark next to your choices and if you have a money making blog see if there’s any affiliate programs for those topics. All you need to do is google the name of the topic or product and add affiliate program after it.

Another blog idea is to write the pros and cons or a review. People are interested in the good and bad of most anything whether it’s a product or just plain gossip. They want to hear the juicy details it’s human nature so why not give it to them.

Additionally, it’s always interesting to tell a story. We all like stories, especially the inspirational or motivational ones. If you have stories that capture interest use them for blog ideas. One way to find out is tell it to someone and take note of their response.

These are just a few blog ideas that can help you get unstuck when you’re mind goes blank or if you’re a newbie who is clueless. A little food for thought that will hopefully prompt you to take action. No action = no results.

You have to do it not just think about it. If you don’t know what to do then you need a blogging coach or mentor to show you how. One of the best ones online is Amy Bass of the Niche Blogger. She blogged her way out of a $72,000 debt.

If you want to see how she did it see her story here.

Money Blogs

Money blogs are blogs that are set up for profit. Yes, if you want to make money with your blog you have to monetize it. There are several ways to do this, however, it takes time and patience to do the research and do it right.

One of the most popular money blogs right now is review sites which can be a blog or static site. You simply find several products and either buy them or research them to find out if they really are good, bad or whatever then write a review.

Another one is gpt (get paid to) money blogs they have a referral system that resembles MLM (multi-level marketing) style of marketing.

These money blogs make money off of surveys, paid to click, paid to read and paid to complete offers. You also get paid for referrals, but you really need to do your due diligence with this type of money making system. To check their track record go to beenpaid.com or gptboycott.com so you won’t get scammed.

Then of course, there’s affiliate marketing money blogs. You choose a product, research it to see if there’s a demand or research to see what products are in demand. Find a couple of affiliate programs that actually pay out as they say they do, set your blog up with links to the product and drive traffic to your site.

This next one I don’t know much about and that’s CPA (click per action)money blogs. I have not tried this, as yet. The deal is you get paid for leads or free trial offers. If you sign up for the PepperJam network they have several cpa programs.

Just like signing up for any affiliate program you will need to have a blog, site, squeeze page or capture page set up so that you will get accepted and not rejected.

In the beginning I didn’t know any of this since I didn’t even know how to set up any kind of blog let alone monetize one. Maybe you’re in the same boat I was, if you are then you need to have a mentor or coach so you can save yourself time and aggravation.

There is much more to it than I have written here and more to learn. That’s why the mentor/coach is so important. Otherwise, you spin your wheels trying to figure it how to have money blogs that actually make money.

The Niche Blogger is how I finally learned how to do it, because there is step by step instruction. In other words, a course of action that is a proven method of making money online. Without this most people fail and give up.

Blogging for Profit

Blogging for profit can be a lot of work, more work than most people are willing put forth. This is why 95-98% of those who attempt to make a living from it fail. There are a couple of different ways to approach it as I have written previously in another post.

One is to become an authority blogger like Darren Rowse aka Problogger. He makes his money from followers who learn from his teaching. He is very good at what he does and many people take off and do well with his style of blogging/teaching.

Then there are niche bloggers who are blogging for profit selling their own products or someone else’s product. These bloggers have multiple blogs in multiple niches. They are not using one blog with many followers, but many blogs and many products.

Whereas, Problogger has a close relationship with his followers most niche bloggers do not do this, but instead are more impersonal sometimes shutting comments down altogether, so that there is no way to communicate with their visitors.

This is fine too, since many visitors are just looking for information or to buy a product and have no intention of communicating. Both styles of bloggers make money just in a different way. There is no right or wrong way to blog, it’s a matter of preference.

Then again, there are some bloggers who have a combo of an authority blog along with a niche. An example of this would be a blog on weight loss where many visitors make comments and ask questions and the blogger answers and helps them lose weight.

As you can see blogging for profit doesn’t always have to be about money, but also communication, information and helping others, which gives it purpose.

Whatever style of blogging you do know that it is hard work and is not easy. There will be many ups and downs and you have to be able to keep going no matter what. If you are not a determined person don’t even try to blog with intentions of making money.

I always recommend a mentor if you want to be like Problogger then follow his blog daily and buy his material. If you want to be a niche blogger then check out the Niche Blogger membership site and find out how to build multiple blogs for profit.

Affiliate Commissions

It’s not that hard to make affiliate commissions the thing that’s hard is to make them on a consistent basis. By consistent I mean making a similar amount of sales each day that you can count on. You would have to be able to do this to have sufficient income.

It make take months or years to accomplish this feat depending on how internet and tech savvy you are. You also need to be a good writer or hire a good ghost writer.

There are many variables, but the main thing you need to do is keep learning and no matter what don’t give up. If you do this then you will eventually make consistent affiliate commissions. The problem is that many people don’t give it enough time.

They quit and go back to working their butt off at some job that can’t guarantee them anything either. I did this for years myself until I started analyzing the big picture.

There is no such thing anymore as job security. I would rather place my future in my hands than a company that has their best interest in mind. If you have given this serious thought then you know that you need to take control and not let someone else have it.

What has all this got to do with affiliate commissions? Well, when you are an affiliate you work for yourself and this places you in control of your financial future.

Any successful internet marketer will testify to this, it’s one of the reasons they do what they do. They want control of their financial future and to make their own job security.

Anyone can do it if they set their mind to it and have a good mentor to show them the way. The right mentor speeds up the process by teaching shortcuts. It takes a long time to learn internet marketing by yourself and make consistent affiliate commissions.

I have had several mentors and am currently with the Niche Blogger being coached by Amy Bass. Click on the Niche Blogger link to see videos and get more info.

There is a 3 free day trial just click here to sign up for that.

Blog Tools

Blog tools make blogging much easier and faster. After all, how can a person blog without blog tools? I suppose you could, but why would you want to? The longer I blog the more blog tools I seem to need. Is this just me or do you do it too?

One of my favorite blog tools is plugins. I cannot imagine how difficult blogging would be without them. For example, what would we do without Akismet to catch spammers? They would literally drive us crazy with their trash.

Some other great plugins are All in One SEO, WP Cache, XML- Sitemap Generator, Feedburner Feedsmith, sociable, WP-Page Navi and the Evermore which I prefer over Readmore. There are many more, however, these are my favorites.

While blog tools make things less difficult they also save us time. I mean take for instance Pingomatic how long would it take for us to put in all those sites every time we post? And what about Social Bookmarker how much time does this save?

Let’s not forget Aweber and Getresponse how crazy would it be to keep up with all your subscribers and do what these tools do with one or two clicks?

It seems that every week or even every day a new blogging tool is created that we must have. In fact, there is no sign that this will stop anytime soon and all the bloggers said, “Thank God.” As a result, we have come to depend on our blog tools.

What an awful thought to think we would have to do all our tedious blogging tasks without blog tools. It may have made us a little lazy too come to think of it.

I say keep on the lookout for new blog tools and if you see something that will save you time, difficulty, money or keep you sane then by all means get it.

The ultimate blogging tool is the Niche Blogger. If I would have not joined I would still be spinning my wheels and going nowhere.

Anyone who is struggling with internet marketing, blogging or making money online can check out the Niche Blogger for three days FREE click here.
