Don’t Give Up !!

You can make money online, so don’t give up. As long as you keep going you can and will do it. There will be a zillion disappointments, but that’s okay as long as you don’t give up. Trust me, I have had them and still do, but I don’t give up. Are you getting the idea as I keep repeating don’t give up! If you give up you will never do it.

I have been at this now for about a year. A few months back I got disillusioned and put affiliate marketing on hold to write for sites like eHow, Infobarrel and Xomba instead to see what money was to be made just writing online.

It has been an interesting journey and has paid off pretty well. You can make money writing online, but make no mistake you need to learn and know SEO to do it.

Doing this has helped me in many ways to make more money online. It has forced me to research niches and topics I was clueless about. It has improved my writing skills and taught me the invaluable lesson of not putting all my eggs in one basket.

If you’re going crazy and trying to make money online don’t give up, but instead diversify. However, you need to watch it that you are doing too many things at once.

Choose two or three avenues and research them to see if you have an interest. If you force yourself you will certainly give up. There needs to be heart felt motivation.

Making money online is not easy, but it is doable. If you can make $5 you can make $10 and then $20 and so forth. Just don’t give up. It also helps to seek help.

If you have been to this blog before then you know I’m a member of the Niche Blogger and have been for the past 10 months. That is a long time, but it’s a great place to learn how to make money online. A good online mentor is priceless.

Without a mentor you are at the mercy of the internet and scammers. Not to mention, time and money wasted on trial and error. If you’re a newbie online grab the free report to your right and learn more about niche blogging.

Promote Your Website

To get traffic you will need to promote your website/blog. Of course, this is a lot of work and time consuming. You may have the hottest site on the internet, but with no traffic what good is it? No traffic no money.

The good news is even though it’s time consuming at least you can do it without spending money. The best way to promote your website is with article marketing. If you can’t write well you can hire a ghost writer, they’re not hard to find. There’s always freelance writer’s looking for work online, especially in forums.

If you’re a newbie you may want to head over to Travis Sago’s site and get his free ebook on bum marketing it will show you how to do article marketing step by step. It’s free too!

While you’re doing all this research it’s best to study search engine optimization aka SEO. If you want to promote your website well you will need to learn it asap, at least the basics. Don’t write posts or articles until you do because they will be worthless.

After you understand article marketing and have SEO basics down fairly well. It’s time to write and submit. Submit the articles to Ezine Articles and submit blog/website urls to search engine directories and rss feeds.

It’s also a good idea to submit articles and posts to social networking sites like Digg, Facebook, Twitter, Stumbleupon, Yahoo, and Delicious to name a few.

Another good way to promote your website is forums. All you do is join several forums that are relevant to your topic or product. They usually allow you to promote your blog/site with a link. If you’re friendly and helpful they will click on it.

There are many ways to promote your website, here’s a few ideas: video, press releases, pay per click, reviews, interviews, Knol, Squidoo, Hubpages and link exchanges.

You can also do site promotion offline with traditional advertising. For example, fliers, business cards, newspaper ads, post cards, TV and radio. Many marketers do well with these methods and do both online and offline web promotion.

Of course, I didn’t know any of this until I found a mentor/coach to show me what to do and how to do it. I lost tons of time on my own and made costly mistakes.

You can avoid doing what I did and join the Niche Blogger right now with a free 3 day trial when you click here or get a free report by clicking on the green button.

Affiliate Commissions

It’s not that hard to make affiliate commissions the thing that’s hard is to make them on a consistent basis. By consistent I mean making a similar amount of sales each day that you can count on. You would have to be able to do this to have sufficient income.

It make take months or years to accomplish this feat depending on how internet and tech savvy you are. You also need to be a good writer or hire a good ghost writer.

There are many variables, but the main thing you need to do is keep learning and no matter what don’t give up. If you do this then you will eventually make consistent affiliate commissions. The problem is that many people don’t give it enough time.

They quit and go back to working their butt off at some job that can’t guarantee them anything either. I did this for years myself until I started analyzing the big picture.

There is no such thing anymore as job security. I would rather place my future in my hands than a company that has their best interest in mind. If you have given this serious thought then you know that you need to take control and not let someone else have it.

What has all this got to do with affiliate commissions? Well, when you are an affiliate you work for yourself and this places you in control of your financial future.

Any successful internet marketer will testify to this, it’s one of the reasons they do what they do. They want control of their financial future and to make their own job security.

Anyone can do it if they set their mind to it and have a good mentor to show them the way. The right mentor speeds up the process by teaching shortcuts. It takes a long time to learn internet marketing by yourself and make consistent affiliate commissions.

I have had several mentors and am currently with the Niche Blogger being coached by Amy Bass. Click on the Niche Blogger link to see videos and get more info.

Blogging for Money

When you’re blogging for money you need to take into consideration many different factors. If not you may end up with no money. You can’t just set up a blog and pray to make money you must have a plan from the get go.

One of the first things you need to think about is how you’re going to monetize the blog/site. Whether it’s a static site or blog this is an important first step. You see, BEFORE you set up a blog you need to sign up for adsense or affiliate programs so that ads will be ready to go when the blog goes live.

I would like to make mention that there’s controversy that surrounds the decision to have ads asap or wait until you have more traffic. I think it’s good to monetize from jump, except for adsense, you may need to wait on them so that you will get relevant ads.

Of course, if you’re planning on using Ebay you need to sign up with them asap, they may reject you so you want to be prepared to have a backup. Amazon and clickbank are good choices as they aren’t so dang picky.

There’s a catch 22 with this, however, because when you sign up they ask for an url from your site and you need to have one. I found that some don’t check the site, but that you just need to have an url. So, I made a quick blogger blog and they accepted that.

You also need to know where to place your ads if you don’t you can lose a lot of money. Blogging for money can be difficult if you don’t make right decisions in this area.

The layout is another concern, not only ads, but colors, clutter and of course content. Content is king, along with another biggie and that’s keywords. If you’re blogging for money keywords and keyword phrases can make you or break you.

Naturally, when I began I knew none of this stuff, none of us do. We have to learn it and it’s best to learn it from someone who has been there and done that.

I fumbled around and wasted a ton of time trying to figure it out on my own. I didn’t get anywhere, but I did try. Finally, I joined Wealthy Affiliate for 8 weeks and couldn’t make heads or tails of that. Then I moved on to the 30 Day Challenge and I did learn basics there, it’s free and a great place for newbies to start.

However, it has been the Niche Blogger that has made a huge difference in helping me to get a grasp on blogging for money. I also benefit greatly from the Warrior Forum.

To sum up, if you’re a complete newbie and want to make money online with blogs you can begin with the 30 Day Challenge which is free or join the Niche Blogger which has a free 3 day trial offer.

Ed Dale is the go to guy in the 30 DC and Amy Bass is the go to gal in the Niche Blogger, both are excellent mentors. Or you can do both since the 30 DC is free, why not? At the time of this post the Niche Blogger is under $25 a month.

Niche Ideas

Niche ideas are sometimes a problem for bloggers and internet marketers. They’re always after a hot niche that will make them a lot of money. One that has a lot of searches and not much competition is usually what they’re looking for.

Then when they find it they won’t reveal it for fear of someone stealing it. After all, that’s how they make their money so I understand that line of thinking.

For all you newbies who are reading this don’t reveal your niche ideas or else you will lose money. There is always someone who has no conscience and will take your niche ideas for themselves. Personally, I don’t use anything without permission.

If you are looking for hot niche ideas here’s a list you can start with:

*Google Hot Trends
*43 Things
*Ebay Pulse
*Ebay Want it Now
*Search.com
*Technorati
*Digg
*Yahoo Buzz
*Clickbank
*Aol Hotsearches
*Coolshopping.com

You never know what you will find in these little gold mines. Whatever you do make sure you do your research and find out if there are affiliate programs for the niche. Preferably ones that are trusted and will pay you. And of course that there is a demand for it.

One of the things I look for is to see if there are adwords bids. If they are paying for ads then it’s lucrative. If not I move on. The last thing you want to do is spend a lot of time on niche ideas and it not payoff. After all, time is money.

It’s also a good idea to choose niche ideas the have a high cost per click(cpc) in adsense, that is if you are going to use adsense. Some of those are finances, legal, loans and mortgage, cancer, golf, solar panels, forex, anti-aging and insurance.

After you have been in internet marketing or blogging for a while you will learn what works best for your sites. Naturally, there will be some trial and error so don’t feel too bad when you make mistakes; learn from it and move on.

Just in case you don’t know and this is the first post you’ve read here. I get most of my info from the Niche Blogger membership site. We have a great forum of people who help each other out and share ideas.

Earn Money Writing

You can earn money writing online, however, it may take time to do it. Writing articles is one of the quickest ways to make money online. Of, course you do need to write fairly well, know basic SEO and have some good connections. It also helps to know English as your first language or know it well enough to write as if it is.

Some of the most popular places to earn money writing are Associated Content, Ehow, Bukisa, Helium and Xomba. There are more, but these will be a good start. Each one of them are different, therefore, it’s best you check them out for yourself.

Another way is to sign up at Elance as a freelance writer and make bids for jobs. This option I don’t like much, so I tend to use article sites like the ones listed above.

Forums are another way to get work writing online. There are bloggers and site owners who are either tired of writing their own content or aren’t good writers. Just let them know you’re looking for work and they may even put you to work right away.

If you plan to earn money writing online you will need to have samples of your work ready just in case someone asks for them. In addition, it’s a good idea to have a paypal account since this is one of primary ways writers get paid on the web.

Then of course you can set up a blog and write for yourself as well as for others. Doing both is a great way to build blog authority and earn money writing at the same time.

If you need mentoring you can join the 30 Day Challenge to learn basics of internet marketing. The 30DC is free and a great place for newbies to start.

Blogging for Profit

Blogging for profit can be a lot of work, more work than most people are willing put forth. This is why 95-98% of those who attempt to make a living from it fail. There are a couple of different ways to approach it as I have written previously in another post.

One is to become an authority blogger like Darren Rowse aka Problogger. He makes his money from followers who learn from his teaching. He is very good at what he does and many people take off and do well with his style of blogging/teaching.

Then there are niche bloggers who are blogging for profit selling their own products or someone else’s product. These bloggers have multiple blogs in multiple niches. They are not using one blog with many followers, but many blogs and many products.

Whereas, Problogger has a close relationship with his followers most niche bloggers do not do this, but instead are more impersonal sometimes shutting comments down altogether, so that there is no way to communicate with their visitors.

This is fine too, since many visitors are just looking for information or to buy a product and have no intention of communicating. Both styles of bloggers make money just in a different way. There is no right or wrong way to blog, it’s a matter of preference.

Then again, there are some bloggers who have a combo of an authority blog along with a niche. An example of this would be a blog on weight loss where many visitors make comments and ask questions and the blogger answers and helps them lose weight.

As you can see blogging for profit doesn’t always have to be about money, but also communication, information and helping others, which gives it purpose.

Whatever style of blogging you do know that it is hard work and is not easy. There will be many ups and downs and you have to be able to keep going no matter what. If you are not a determined person don’t even try to blog with intentions of making money.

I always recommend a mentor if you want to be like Problogger then follow his blog daily and buy his material. If you want to be a niche blogger then check out the Niche Blogger membership site and find out how to build multiple blogs for profit.

Marketing Blogs

As you know there are thousands of marketing blogs online. If you’re just beginning you have a lot of research ahead to find out what’s being used these days to market your product or yourself for that matter. You will be challenged and at times frustrated.

I’m going to briefly mention the most popular ways marketers market their marketing blogs. There’s a tongue twister for you, now say it 10 times.

Just kidding, but I did try and can’t do it! Anyway, here’s the top 10 methods marketers market marketing blogs:

* Quality content is vital to the success of your blog no matter what type of blog you market. Poorly written content will kill it.
* Social media, this includes, Twitter of course and all the other social sites like Digg, Facebook, Stumbleupon, Technorati, Del.icio.us and Yahoo Buzz.
* Articles, with Ezine Articles being in the lead and Goarticles coming in second.
* Videos are quite popular and getting more so each day. It’s visual, it’s quick, it works.
* Submit to main web and rss directories.
* Forums are great, especially for Niche blogs.
* Press Releases, Newsletters, Podcasts and Interviews

Of course, there’s more, but these are the best ones. Marketing blogs can be a full time job and consistency is one of the keys to their success. When you snooze you lose!

If there’s one thing you don’t want to do it’s get behind or take on too much. If you have too many blogs/sites to keep up it can hurt your business. You need to know your limitations and focus on the ones you have rather than set up more.

As you can see marketing blogs can get overwhelming if you let it. This can be a trap bloggers/marketers fall into so consider yourself warned.

The best thing to do so that you don’t get in over your head is have a mentor or coach. This will save you from making costly mistakes and save you tons of time.

In the beginning I had no one to show me the right way so I made a lot of poor choices. Finally, I came across Amy Bass who owns the Niche Blogger and now have guidance.

Working at Home Online

Working at home online isn’t for everybody. Only the few survive anyway. Usually it’s the die hard people who refuse to give up on anything, which includes me. No matter what happens we keep going. Trust me, the learning curve is huge for tech dummies like me.

Not only is the techie part a challenge so are the 10-14 hour days and nights spent online not making one cent. I’m a hard worker and have been used to working hard all my life, however, I always made money doing it. Many times online you work hard and make zero!

It is frustrating to work and have nothing to show for it. Not to mention how it feels when a friend or family member asks you how much you made this month or last.

Then there’s the time spent alone for days on end without any offline contact with real people in the real world. This turns into weeks, months and I suppose years.

Naturally, if you’re married or living with people there’s more interaction. However, you still have to shut yourself up and stay somewhat isolated to focus. Working online at home requires a certain amount of focus because distractions hinder progress.

Much of the time is spent writing, so if you don’t like to write working online may not be for you. Alternatively, you can outsource writing and all the other work as well.

There are other drawbacks to working at home online, but these are the ones that usually make people give up, no money, long hard hours and lack of tech skills.

The good news is that it gets better as you go and you do start making money. Also, time spent working decreases and then you’re freed up as you learn to work smarter not harder. The hard work done in the beginning does pay off, but only if you hang in there.

If I had it to do all over again I would have worked with a mentor from the get go. This would have saved me a lot of time, I wasted a lot of time doing guess work.

After I found trustworthy people who could and would help it made working at home online easier. The three that were most helpful were Ed Dale of the 30 Day Challenge, Travis Sago aka Bum Marketer, and Amy Bass of the Niche Blogger.

I’m still with the Niche Blogger and have been for nine months now. To learn more follow the Niche Blogger link to watch videos and discover how it works for yourself.

Online Discussion Forums

Online discussion forums are a great way to make money online and build relationships. The relationships are sometimes business and other times friends who help one another out. Either way it’s a win win proposition and worth your time and effort.

There are forums online on about every topic or niche you can think of. If you’re only interest is to make money you will still need to be friendly and make yourself known as the go to guy or gal that has the answers and solutions to their problems.

No matter what, it will take time to make money with online forums. It’s this way, however, with everything online, it all takes time as well as consistency.

For example, the Warrior Forum is a forum that is a well known hang out for internet marketers. You can learn everything you want to know about making money online and then some. It’s also a great place to find joint venture partners.

If you’re a newbie take it slow or you can get overwhelmed by too much information. They are known to be tough on you too, so a little thick skin may come in handy.

There are many other online forums that can help you make money. The best way to find out if they’re for you is to join and get a feel for the people. Be friendly and helpful, but don’t spam or you may get chewed out or maybe even kicked out.

If you have a product to sell make sure that it is relevant to whatever forum you join. Be careful of affiliate links and make sure that they are allowed.

If you just want to make friends and are more interested in it as a hobby then you shouldn’t have any problems. I have made some really good friends in online forums.

While it’s possible to make good friends online you still need to be careful of scammers. A person may act like a friend to get money from you or sell you a scammy product. Make sure that whoever they are that they are well respected and liked by their peers.

I have only three online forums that I frequent that have helped me with making money online and they are: Warrior Forum, Work at Home Forum and the Niche Blogger Forum. All three of them have people who are willing to answer questions and help.

The Warrior Forum and Work at Home Forum are both free and accessible, but you have to be a member of the Niche Blogger to participate in their forum.
