Make Blogs- The Domain Name

There’s a difference of opinion on the domain name and on every topic concerning it. I’m going on my experience and what I’ve read and researched on them.

Naturally, how to choose the domain name is very important and not to be taken lightly. I didn’t know this when I chose my first domain name so I messed it up. It’s vital that you take time to do your research properly and choose wisely.

The domain name should have the title in it or title in the domain name, however you want to put it. In addition, it should be what your site is about and keyword rich as well for best search engine optimization possible. This will help you get targeted keyword searched traffic which is the best kind.

Also, the domain name should be short, simple, easy to spell and easy to pronounce so that people can remember it. You may need to get creative since most of the great domain names are taken. However, if you take your time and focus you will come up with a choice that best describes your site or blog.

Now, for the controversial coms, orgs, nets and all the other top level domains out there. I have used only coms and orgs most say to go with the .com if you can get it. And to use the .org with health or educational sites. I don’t think that one out performs the other as far as ranking a site higher. It is advised to stay away from the biz and the info.

Just a quick mention of using a subdomain. I do have one so I know a little about it. They do not seem to rank as fast as a regular one, but if you’re short on cash they work. And of course, you can’t resell them like the others either.

And yet another controversy, the domain name with the hyphen in it. Some people like them and some don’t. I can see where it could make it more readable in some cases and if the one you want isn’t available it may be the next best thing. Keep in mind they are harder to type and lazy folks might not do it.

When you choose the domain name keep these things in mind. I believe the major concerns are mentioned and if I come across anything else I will add it in later or if you have any questions feel free to ask. If I don’t know then I will ask Amy (my coach) or some other person more qualified than myself.

Blog Tools

Blog tools make blogging much easier and faster. After all, how can a person blog without blog tools? I suppose you could, but why would you want to? The longer I blog the more blog tools I seem to need. Is this just me or do you do it too?

One of my favorite blog tools is plugins. I cannot imagine how difficult blogging would be without them. For example, what would we do without Akismet to catch spammers? They would literally drive us crazy with their trash.

Some other great plugins are All in One SEO, WP Cache, XML- Sitemap Generator, Feedburner Feedsmith, sociable, WP-Page Navi and the Evermore which I prefer over Readmore. There are many more, however, these are my favorites.

While blog tools make things less difficult they also save us time. I mean take for instance Pingomatic how long would it take for us to put in all those sites every time we post? And what about Social Bookmarker how much time does this save?

Let’s not forget Aweber and Getresponse how crazy would it be to keep up with all your subscribers and do what these tools do with one or two clicks?

It seems that every week or even every day a new blogging tool is created that we must have. In fact, there is no sign that this will stop anytime soon and all the bloggers said, “Thank God.” As a result, we have come to depend on our blog tools.

What an awful thought to think we would have to do all our tedious blogging tasks without blog tools. It may have made us a little lazy too come to think of it.

I say keep on the lookout for new blog tools and if you see something that will save you time, difficulty, money or keep you sane then by all means get it.

The ultimate blogging tool is the Niche Blogger. If I would have not joined I would still be spinning my wheels and going nowhere.

Blog Posts

How often to write blog posts varies from blogger to blogger. Some bloggers write a post every day. I have never been one of those I do good now to write one a week. I used to do one every 4-5 days then I set up more blogs, so it got cut back to one every 7 days.

This is something you need to not do and that is to not set up so many blogs that you can’t keep up with them. I am guilty of this and have 3 blogs that haven’t had a post in 6 months. Of course, they were the first ones, so they were sort of experimental blogs.

Now, I write blog posts once a week for 3 blogs. This seems to be doable for me. I also write 2-4 articles a day for other sites, so I write usually 7-12 hours a day.

Naturally, the more you write the better you get, at least that’s how I see it. However, much of this time is spent on keyword research because web writing is all about SEO.

Before you write blog posts or any article online there must be keyword research. That is, if you want traffic flowing. Otherwise, your site will be buried in the abyss of cyberspace. This is why the study of SEO is imperative for bloggers and all web writers.

On the other hand, you can have auto blogs where the content is drawn from the web. You can do this with a plugin on WordPress using either wp-o-matic, wp- autoblogger or smartrss. There may be others that I’m unaware of, so do your homework.

I have not used them as I like to write my own content. Auto blog content is usually not of good quality as you can imagine. I know people make money with them, but that’s it.

I have thought about creating an auto blog just to try it out and may eventually do it. However, I believe content is king and have been trained to publish only original work.

At the Niche Blogger Amy teaches us to use original content, so I adhere to what I’m taught. After all, why have a mentor if you’re not going to follow their lead.

We should all have an online mentor to guide us in the right direction. If you have been going in circles then click here for a free 3 day trial at the Niche Blogger.

Internet Marketing Articles

Internet marketing articles can be very profitable if you’re a good presell writer. If you don’t know how to write with good preselling techniques then you may not do so well. You also need to have a strong call to action, so that readers will click on your link in the resource box. This takes time and plenty of practice if you want to be successful.

Furthermore, you need to have a product that is in demand and it helps for you to know that the product is a good product and that you back it with a guarantee.

There are several techniques internet marketers use that get results. I don’t agree with all of them, but that doesn’t mean they don’t work. First of all, they appeal to emotions and hope to make them, the reader, need what they have to offer.

Then there’s the you can’t miss this deal we’ve cut prices down as low as they can go. Third there’s the scarcity tactic we only have so many of these left. Of course, we can’t forget the old limited time offer trick, it’s only available till blah blah.

These are the top four, so if you presell and make money with internet marketing articles most likely it will be with some sort of variation of these techniques.

Naturally, you will need to know basic SEO, this is a given, so keywords are of major importance if you want to get the article on the first page of Google, Yahoo or MSN, because if you don’t this means no traffic, which equals no sales.

As you can see there’s more to internet marketing articles than one would think and this is only basics. While it’s true that article marketing is the way most IMers start it doesn’t mean that it’s easy, so don’t get discouraged when you don’t make sales right away.

If you’re a great writer and have sales experience it may happen for you quicker. Otherwise, prepare for a long hard learning curve or opt for a mentor.

I always suggest the Niche Blogger for mentoring because it’s affordable and helps cut the learning curve down, so that you can make money easier and faster.

Make Blogs- Blog Beginner

There is so much to learn about blogging and making money online. So where does a blog beginner begin? For me it’s been fun and sometimes not so fun, just depends on the day. You never know what the day will bring, but I can assure you of one thing if I can make blogs so can you.

When I first began I was scared to death to make blogs. So, I opted to have someone set one up for me. It was a WordPress blog and they did a manual installation which I still can’t do. I use fantastico since it’s much easier, you pretty much just press a button and even a blog beginner can do that.

For the complete blog beginner who has never blogged there’s a lot to learn and steps to take that should go in some sort of order if you plan to make money online. If you get in a hurry you will make unwise choices that you’ll be sorry for later on.

The first thing you want to do is decide your reason/motive. There are a number of reasons why people make blogs such as: socializing, make money, share information, business, news, education, and religion to name a few. What is your reason?

As a blog beginner I did it for fun and as a challenge back in July 2008. You see I’m totally techie dumb so for me doing anything online was and is a major victory. Somewhere along the line I added the make money thing and that took the challenge part to a whole new level. It’s kind of like an adventure now.

You can have an adventure too. Are you a person who likes a challenge and has an adventurous spirit? Then blogging is for you. I’m currently learning to hone these skills I gained with Amy Bass of the Niche Blogger. She guides me step by step like a coach and she will guide you too if you’re ready make blogs. A blog beginner has to begin somewhere. And you can start free with this 3 day free trial:

Learn SEO First

If you plan to set up a blog or website you need to learn SEO first. Don’t go blindly into it without at least knowing the basics, because you will make really dumb mistakes that will COST you big time! How do I know this? Well, how else? I did it! My first blog, God rest it’s soul, is out there in cyberspace doing nothing.

I fully admit this is due to my stupidity. Now I know, some 8 months later in the deal, what SEO is and continue to study and work on techniques as I go, as all bloggers and web owners should. If not, then we deserve to fall on our face.

Yes, you can outsource it, but many times the so called SEO experts use language we don’t understand and tell us anything. Then follow up with not doing anything as well.

So, I say again learn search engine optimization aka SEO first! If you don’t have any idea what it is then you definitely need to do your due diligence and get busy studying.

If you don’t do this your site will not be found by search engines or people and will be of no benefit to you or anyone else. You may be a great writer with killer graphics and all the bells and whistles, but if the site isn’t optimized then it’s dead in the water.

You don’t have to be an expert just get the basics down. Find a profitable niche using keyword tools then you will know what domain name and title is best. It helps if the title is in the url. The post titles should have keywords as well as the content of those posts.

Everything needs to be relevant using synonyms and LSI this includes links coming inbound. If you leave a comment on a blog make it one that is relevant to your site. Look for high ranking sites to leave comments and ask to trade links with them.

Learn SEO first, it isn’t hard you just need to get the facts and use them. Research and read is the best advice I can give and another big tip is to check out Griz’s site at Make Money for Beginners, it’s a blogspot, but don’t let that fool you, he’s the man when it comes to search engine optimization. If you’re wise you’ll check him out.

And if you’re a complete newbie do the 30 Day Challenge, it’s free and a great way to learn basic internet marketing skills.

I also recommend the use of a mentor and the Niche Blogger is the best place for blog mentoring. You can check it out for 3 days free by clicking here.

Effective Websites/Blogs

Effective websites are ones that do what you have designed them to do. If it’s not doing what you want it to then it’s not effective. Blogs are the same way, after all, a blog is a website. Many times it’s traffic or the lack of, but there are other reasons why a site isn’t effective. Let’s see if we can pinpoint some areas that need a little tlc.

First of all, is your niche focused or are you all over the place? Is it a lucrative niche and did you do the proper research beforehand? Meaning from the beginning did you research before you bought the domain name? Proper research is a huge factor!

To have an effective website either you or the web designer needs at least basic knowledge of SEO. If not then you can throw it out with the bath water! The content must be on target and well SEO written material, staying focused on keywords.

Do you have good information that people need or want? If you have a blog are you posting at least once a week? Are you pursuing back links? If not why not?

For an website to be effective it needs to have easy navigation as well as a good layout. Additionally, if it takes too long to load or has flashing pop ups and noise people will hit the back button asap! Most people are in a hurry and won’t tolerate hang ups.

Promotion is a major issue, which I go into detail in my promote your website post. So, I’m not going to elaborate on it here, just know, no promotion, no effective websites!

It’s also a good idea to seek opinions from other marketers. The Warrior forum is a great place to have your site critiqued, so that you will get opinions from others who know what to look for. Your friends or family may be clueless in this area.

Effective websites/blogs take time and work. Not to mention, things change fast on the web, so what was effective 6 months ago may not be effective today!

Stay on top of technology and continue to educate yourself on an on going basis. Don’t be a slacker or your site will not be effective, but instead will be lost in cyberspace.

For us to keep up with what to do and how to do it we may need help. A mentor is a great way to do it click here for a free 3 day offer at the Niche Blogger membership site.

Make Blogs- Start to Blog

Once you start to blog it will get easier to blog. At first if you’re not used to writing it may be difficult even if you know your topic and it’s something you’re passionate about. After all, when you hit the publish button it goes LIVE! And you may not feel comfortable with letting friends or family know that you have one so don’t worry this is normal. A little healthy fear kind of keeps you from making a fool of yourself.

To find tips on what others are writing you can go to different article directories to view articles. One of the best ones is Ezine Articles there you can search for most anything you want and either get new ideas or see what they’re writing on your chosen topic. Then when you start to blog it won’t be as scary.

However, you shouldn’t copy their article word for word, but get ideas and add your own flavor to it so that it’s original content. Keep in mind that if you start to blog for money posts will need to be keyword rich. Now, you may wonder what that means if you’re a complete newbie. It simply means that there are search words people use in google to find a product or an answer. These words are called keywords.

Even if you’re not trying to make money and just want traffic to your blog the use of keywords can help you do it. Therefore, before you start to blog you will need to do keyword research if you want more readers/traffic coming to your blog.

Blogging and writing go hand in hand and everybody knows that the more you do something the better. When you start to blog you should try to write everyday, maybe not a full post, but at least research or write a few paragraphs. In time you’ll start feeling more comfortable and see an improvement in your writing.

Then before you know it blogging and writing will be a breeze and all the fear you had in the beginning will disappear. Once you get that out of the way you can focus on learning how to make money from blogging if that’s your goal.

That’s what this blog is for to help others make money online. There has to be a system or plan and everyone who blogs for money needs to have a plan to do it effectively. That’s why I’m a member of the Niche Blogger so that I have a proven method to follow. The NB method works if you take action and implement.

Make Money on the Web

If you want to make money on the web you can if you’re willing to do what it takes to do it. Not only that you must be patient because it takes time. Many people give up way too soon and miss out on a great opportunity to work from home.

Like many other people I too thought it would be easier and faster than it is. Of course, I messed it up myself by fooling around trying to do it without help. It’s like going in to perform surgery without going to med school. Not a good idea!

When you finally do make money on the web that’s when you realize you really can do it. Once you do it you’re hooked! From this point on it’s do or die.

One of the best ways to do is by blogging. It takes work upfront, but in the long run it will turn into passive income working on auto pilot with minimal effort from you.

The most important thing you can do is study search engine optimization and how to use keywords effectively in your writing, it can make you or break you. Don’t try to start up a blog without knowing this vital information.

When you take time to get educated and research you will make money on the web. Once you acquire knowledge of keywords and SEO you can start writing posts.

Then you begin article marketing to drive traffic to your blog. If you don’t know how article marketing works, google bum marketing and check out Travis Sago’s site he has a free ebook that gives you all the instruction you need.

Naturally, it’s best to have a mentor to help speed up your progress. I wish I would’ve had one in the beginning. The great thing is that I do have one now.

You can have one too just Click here to start free or get more information.

You can see videos by Clicking here if you’re more of a visual person.

And if you like free reports just click on the green button to the right.

Blog Creation

Blog creation comes into play when you first get the idea to have one. Once you do this then the creative juices start to flow and you begin to search for ideas to blog about. Even if it’s a make money blog you still need to research for a niche and products.

As I have mentioned in other posts you should do all your research and have an outline BEFORE you purchase a domain name. This is important! Or set up a free Blogger blog to give it a trial run. In other words, test your idea, niche and product.

Then if it’s something you feel you will stay committed to and is worthwhile go ahead and buy the domain and set up a WordPress blog/site with your own hosting.

You can always transport from Blogger to WP, so you haven’t lost anything by testing unless you get stupid and make MFA (made for adsense) sites that are worthless and google shuts you down. Then you have wasted valuable time.

For blog creation you need to do a lot of research to find worthwhile information and to get instruction. Youtube has many tutorials that are free, so there’s no excuse as to why you can’t set up a blog or learn internet/affiliate marketing.

There’s also the Ehow site which has an article on how to do just about everything. They’re another good resource that’s free. In fact, if you need to make extra money sign up and write articles on what you do know and gain experience as well as cash.

Then of course, there’s the 30 Day Challenge it’s free too! You will learn all the basics of setting up a blog/site as well as internet marketing and much more.

Creating a blog takes patience and hard work if you want it to be successful. However, you can make it easier if you don’t try to do it all by yourself, but admit you need help. I know this from experience I wasted months trying to figure it out on my own.

Finally, I came to my senses and did the 30DC, which led me to the Warrior forum, that led me to the Niche Blogger. Now, I have a mentor and don’t have to do it alone.
